More purchase on subscriptionFDIH's analysis has also shown that every fifth krone is spent on subscription purchases. Here, TV, telephony, internet, streaming services, transport and training subscriptions fill the big categories. Today you can buy everything on subscription - from socks and baby clothes to cosmetics.
In the future, meal boxes and groceries are predicted to consume a bigger bite of the online shopping cake. Many grocery stores have already made it possible for subscription purchases due to customers demanding the opportunity. The trend of grocery shopping has long been on the way, but in Denmark we have the most supermarkets per day. per capita, which has made the digital breakthrough difficult.
"I expect that the volume of subscription purchases will increase significantly in the future, because it meets the consumers' need for easy and fast solutions," says Niels Ralund from FDIH.
Increased focus on sustainability
Consumers are increasingly demanding sustainability towards webshops and stores, both when it comes to environmentally friendly production of the product, the packaging of the product and the transport of the product. The fact that the product is produced in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way is the biggest factor for customers, with 50% believing it to be of significant importance. After that, 35% believe that packaging minimization is the most important sustainability factor. Finally, 10% believe that the most important aspect concerns environmentally friendly delivery and transport.
In an e-commerce analysis, FDIH asked consumers whether "sustainability matters to you when you shop online?", Here the statistics show that women generally weigh sustainably higher than men. At the same time, consumers in the capital are the ones who value sustainability the highest - where consumers in Southern Denmark and Northern Jutland emphasize sustainability the lowest.
At Jakodan, we are seeing a growing demand for sustainable packaging and web packaging, and the green alternatives in the range have grown significantly during 2019. The sustainable trend is expected to continue in 2020.
Delivery in package stores
Online shoppers are increasingly finding their way to the packing shops and vending machines.
This delivery method is the most commonly used method, as the customer is given the freedom to pick up the package when it fits in, and does not require the customer to be home to receive the package. As many as 64% today choose to have the package delivered at a parcel delivery point. In particular, young people and families with children make use of this method, seeking the flexibility of not having to be home when the mail comes with the package.
Delivery on the home address is the second most used method, with 50% choosing to have packages delivered at home. This method is also very frequently used, due to the convenience of bringing the package home to the door.
